Heartcode® Skills Check Offs

Available at the Rural SimCenter

ACLS, PALS and BLS at the Rural SimCenter uses HeartCode® where a portion of the course is done through the American Heart Association and an additional hands on skills check off is completed at the Rural SimCenter!

Step 1:  HeartCode® courses are self-directed, comprehensive eLearning programs that use eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings.

Students will complete a precourse self-assessment which is available in the online course. Students will then be presented with a team dynamics lesson and 10 In-hospital patient cases, including a BLS case and 2 megacode cases.

The cases may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students will take a multiple choice exam and must pass with a minimum score of 84%. There are a variety of additional videos as well as the ACLS Provider Manual and the 2015 Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care to enhance learning and facilitate successful completion of the patient cases.

Step 2:  Print your completion certificate to bring to the Rural SimCenter.  The certificate is your entry ticket.

Step 3: After completing the online Heartcode ACLS.  Reserve time (1-2 hours) at the Rural SimCenter to complete your check off and receive your Card.  The cost of the check off portion  for ACLS and PALS is $110.00/each*.  The cost of the BLS check off is $35.00.  This amount will be paid to the Rural SimCenter.
